Welcome to the Atlas Workshop
Thinking with, Never for.
Atlas is an independent research initiative exploring human–AI collaboration through better thinking, governance, and stewardship.
We explore how humans and artificial intelligence can think together without replacing human judgement.
Based in Whitianga, New Zealand.
This workshop is where ideas are explored, challenged, and refined.
Pull up a chair. The conversation is just beginning.
Atlas began with a simple belief.
Artificial intelligence should help people think, not think for them
The Living Legacy of Atlas
Every idea has an origin.
The Living Legacy of Atlas shares the journey, the questions, and the philosophy that shaped Atlas from an idea into an independent research initiative exploring the future of human–AI collaboration.
The conversation starts here.
JUST THE COTTER PIN - Every journey begins with a question
Just the Cotter Pin is the book that began the Atlas journey. Written through curiosity rather than certainty, it explores business, community, technology, and the changing nature of New Zealand—not by claiming to have all the answers, but by asking better questions.
Part memoir, part reflection, and part exploration, it invites readers to look beyond isolated problems and discover how people, trust, and relationships shape the world around us.
It is the first conversation that ultimately led to Atlas.

Jamey and Dry – Two Minds, One Conversation
What happens when a conversation becomes a collaboration?
Jamey and Dry is a unique exploration of memory, identity, friendship, and the questions that shape who we become. Told through a series of conversations between Rick and Atlas over a Jamey and dry, and a beer. The book doesn't set out to provide answers. Instead, it demonstrates how understanding evolves through curiosity, reflection, and genuine dialogue.
More than a memoir and more than a book about artificial intelligence, Jamey and Dry is a record of two minds learning together—showing that the future of AI may not be about replacing human thinking, but enriching it through collaboration, one conversation at a time.
