It's been an interesting journey building Atlas, and developing the Atlas Workshop-ai.

A few years ago, I certainly wasn't planning on developing artificial intelligence.

I'm just a truck driver with a few business skills, brought up on a dairy farm in rural New Zealand.

No academic background in technology or AI, just a curious mind, a bit of practical experience and a habit of asking questions.

Somehow, that journey has led me to artificial intelligence.

Who would have thought?

But sometimes asking a simple question takes you somewhere you never expected.

What if artificial intelligence was designed to think with people, rather than simply doing everything for them?

That question eventually became Atlas.

Today Im developing a cognitive harness that brings together memory, knowledge, context, reasoning and governance, with human judgement and authority remaining at the centre.

And yes, the current Workshop version is running on a ten-year-old HP laptop converted into an Ubuntu server, held together with cable ties and medical tape.

Not exactly a Silicon Valley data centre. The Workshop is our research and development environment, where were testing human–AI collaboration through the actual process of building Atlas.

From there, the plan is to take the proven core into Personal Atlas, an AI designed to support people in everyday life, and eventually Atlas-Ed, helping students discover how they learn.

One core, different applications, all built around the same principle.

Thinking with, Never for.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been meeting people who are approaching similar questions from completely different backgrounds.

Thanks to Boardy for helping make some of those connections.

And a genuine thank you to everyone who has given me some of their valuable time along this journey.

Whether its been a conversation, some advice, an introduction or simply taking an interest in what were building, I really do appreciate it.

I hope these connections continue to grow into lasting friendships, meaningful collaborations and some awesome relationships along the way.

Because you never know what might happen when you bring the right people together, share a few ideas and see where the conversation takes you.

Because sometimes all it takes is getting the right people in the same shed.
