Today I’m publishing a new Atlas Workshop paper:
The Lift Plan Principle - An Engineering Philosophy for Trustworthy AI
For years, I worked around cranes, lifting operations, technical planning, changing conditions, and decisions where assumptions had to be tested before committing to the lift.
That experience taught me something important:
A good plan is never the end of the thinking.
You observe.
You question.
You test.
You recalibrate.
The same discipline should apply to artificial intelligence.
This paper explores why trustworthy AI should begin with:
Philosophy before implementation
Governance before deployment
Principles before optimisation
Stress testing before scaling
Continual calibration throughout
Atlas did not begin with software.
It began with conversations, questions, engineering judgement, governance, stewardship, and a deliberate effort to discover weaknesses before reality found them for us.
The objective has never been to prove Atlas right.
It has been to keep asking:
Where could we be wrong, and how do we build stronger foundations before moving forward?
